The accident happened Friday
TRAVERSE CITY, MI — A Consumers Energy worker received an electric shock while working on a line in the Traverse City area and died at a hospital, company officials said.
The worker was identified Saturday, Oct. 6 as James Farrington of Alden, a town on the shore of Torch Lake.
The accident happened about 11:30 a.m. Friday.
He had been a journeyman lineworker for nearly two decades. He worked for Traverse City Light & Power and Lansing Board of Water & Light before joining Consumers.
Consumers Energy released a statement Saturday on the incident.
«As we take the safety of our employees very seriously, the entire Consumers Energy family is grieving the loss of our coworker. We extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones affected by the tragedy,» Consumers’ management said.
«We are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident alongside state and local officials,» the statement continued.
