Head to Io for some Exotic items for your favorite merchant. This week’s items include Sunshot, Orpheus Rig, Lion Rampant, Karnstein Armlets, and Three of Coins. Boots and gloves and handcannons for all!
Our Destiny 2 guide explains everything you need to know, including choosing a class, a guide to Exotic armor, emotes, weapons, sparrows and ships, how to trigger Heroic Public Events and much more.
If you played D estiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and now appears all over the map. This week, he’s on Io. You can find Xur hanging out inside a cave in the Giant’s Scar.
Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
Xur’s inventory to caps out at 581 at 600 power — one Light above your Collection. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces. We’ve highlighted any great rolls below.
The Skyburner’s Oath is a scout rifle modeled after the Cabal’s slug rifle. Its first exotic perk is Slug Rifle, which causes the gun to deal Solar damage and become more powerful when you’re aiming down its sights. The recent exotic update improved these slugs to act more like explosive grenades when being quick-fired. The second exotic perk is For the Empire. This perk makes the gun fully automatic, deal extra damage to Cabal enemies and, most importantly, penetrate the shields of Phalanx enemies.
All of the perks around Skyburner’s Oath make it sound fantastic. While it used to be fairly mediocre, the recent update makes it useful in some situations at best and fun at worst. If you haven’t gotten Skyburner’s Oath yet, it’s definitely worth picking up from Xur.
Young Ahamkara’s Spine is fairly unremarkable as far as exotics go. Its main perk, Wish-Dragon Teeth, increases the length and blast radius of your tripmine grenades and returns energy to your grenade slot when you damage enemies with abilities.
If you’re into PvP or just love using tripmine all the time, this exotic’s recent buffs actually make it quite potent. Give it a try and pick them up.
This week’s roll: Three even stats, with a choice between mobility and resilience. Tier one gives a choice between fusion rifle loader, hand cannon loader and impact induction — melee attacks reduce grenade cooldown. Tier two offers shotgun scavenger and heavy ammo finder. This is actually a great roll, especially for PvP — which is where this exotic shines anyway.

Another returning Destiny exotic, the Helm of Saint-14 is rarely useful in Destiny 2. Its exotic perk, Starless Night, causes your Ward of Dawn to blind enemies who walk inside it. Guarding with Sentinel Shield will provide the same result.
Unfortunately, there are few times where you want to drop Ward of Dawn rather than use your full Sentinel Shield. When using the block, this perk doesn’t activate easily enough to be useful. If you like the way it looks, pick it up for some tower fashion. But if you want a functional Titan helmet, look elsewhere.
This week’s roll: No mobility, medium resilience and low recovery with a choice between resilience and recovery. Tier one offers a choice between bow targeting, hand cannon targeting and hands-on — melee kills grant super energy. Tier two gives the choice between shotgun reserves and heavy ammo finder. This is a pretty decent roll, so pick it up if you ever plan on using this helmet.

The Skull of Dire Ahamkara is the Warlock helmet on offer this week. It’s a pretty situational exotic, but it can be devastating when used properly. Its exotic perk, Actual Grandeur, causes you to take very low damage while casting Nova Bomb — and your Nova Bomb kills grant Super Energy instantly.
If you can accurately place your Nova Bomb in a large group of enemies — in PvE or even PvP — you will refund quite a bit of super energy. If you like playing Voidwalker at all, this is a solid helmet.
