If the lucky ticket is bought in the five boroughs, state officials and City Hall will score at least a $115 million payday.
If all the money was delivered to the embattled New York City Housing Authority, it would be exactly enough to overhaul the Gun Hill Houses, home to 732 apartments in The Bronx.
The windfall would come on top of the more than $1 billion that city schools receive in annual aid from the lottery, a total that has grown to more than $24.8 billion since 1977.
Thirty percent of the money spent on Mega Millions tickets goes to education, officials said.
But City Hall kept quiet about whatever dreams it might have for the money.
“We won’t be counting the money before we have it,” said Eric Phillips, the mayor’s top flack.
