Fox easily won the Tuesday night ratings fight with Game 1 of the World Series, which provided some tough competition for Week 2 of “The Conners” (and everything else on TV). The “Roseanne” spinoff got plunked, shedding 25 percent of its debut viewers, and 26 percent of adults 18-49.
This time around, ABC’s “The Conners” posted a 1.7 rating/7 share and 7.9 million viewers at 8 p.m. Compare that with last week’s series premiere, which scored a 2.3/10 and 10.5 million viewers.
Due to the nature of live sports, the below fast-national Nielsen numbers for Fox should be considered subject to significant adjustment. According to the earlier-available (but more accurate for Fox, in this case) overnight ratings, Game 1 of the World Series slipped 2 percent from last year’s comparable contest.

Fox was first in ratings with a 3.5 rating/14 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 13.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. Game 1 ran throughout primetime.
NBC was second in ratings with a 1.7/7 and third in viewers with 7.7 million. “The Voice” at 8 earned a 1.6/7 and 8.2 million viewers. At 9, “This Is Us” put up a 2.1/8 and 8.4 million viewers. “New Amsterdam” at 10 received a 1.3/6 and 6.4 million viewers.
CBS and ABC tied for third in ratings, both with a 1.0/4. CBS was second in total viewers with 9 million, ABC was fourth with 4.8 million.

For CBS, “NCIS” at 8 landed a 1.2/5 and 11.1 million viewers. At 9, “FBI” had a 1.0/4 and 8.8 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 10 got a 0.8/4 and 7.1 million viewers.
For ABC, following “The Conners,” “The Kids Are Alright” at 8:30 had a 1.1/4 and 5.1 million viewers. At 9, “Black-ish” got a 0.9/4 and 3.8 million viewers. “Splitting Up Together” at 9:30 received a 0.7/3 and 2.9 million viewers. “The Rookie” at 9 closed primetime with a 0.8/4 and 4.4 million viewers.
The CW was fifth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.5 million. “The Flash” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 1.8 million viewers. At 9, “Black Lightning” got a 0.4/1 and 1.2 million viewers.
Univision and Telemundo tied for sixth in ratings, both with a 0.4/2. Univision was sixth in total viewers with 1.4 million, Telemundo was seventh with 1.2 million.
