Sony’s policy won’t allow Enrique Hernandez and many others around the world to keep their PSN IDs due to their nicknames.
Sony is very strict when it comes to online policing on the PlayStation Network which is now evident by the fact that Dodgers’ Enrique Hernandez will never be allowed to create or keep a PSN ID. Hernandez, who’s also known as Kike Hernandez, won’t be able to create an account with his nickname “Kike.”
No only Hernandez but anyone with the same nickname won’t be able to create or hold a PSN account. You will be stripped of your video games, trophies, DLCs, and everything else you own on that account.
And this is exactly what happened to a PSN user; Kike_0615. The PSN users had hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of video games stripped by Sony.
Support refused to reinstate his account after many attempts and explanations. You may wonder what is wrong with this nickname? Well, it is not only a nickname for millions across the globe but also an offensive slur to Jews. Identical words are used for various meanings and use in different cultures around the world but it seems Sony didn’t get the memo.
After countless attempts to convince Sony support, the user had to give up and take to social media. The only solution Sony support presented him is creating a new account. However, creating a new account means losing all of his games. If Sony stands by its policy than anyone unaware of what “Kike” means would end up losing his/her account.
It seems Sony’s system doesn’t track your ID or at least the word “Kike” when creating the account. It seems the ban hammer drops if someone reports your account which could have happened in this case.
This isn’t the first time PlayStation Network support has failed to help users in such situations. Recently, a father lost his primary account to hackers which also blocked access to sub-accounts for his kids. Sony actually let the hacker keep the account for “security purposes.” In another case, Sony banned a PSN user over an Xbox 360 meme .
