Whether you’re registered to vote in California or not, you can cast a ballot in the midterm election so long as you meet state requirements. Here’s how.
1. Go online and check if you’re registered on the California secretary of state’s website at voterstatus.sos.ca.gov .
2. If you’re registered, vote by mail. Postmark your ballot on or before Tuesday, or drop your ballot off at any polling place in your county by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
3. Or vote in person, Visit your designated polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday. Find your polling place on your sample ballot or by calling 800-345-VOTE. You can also cast a provisional ballot at any polling place in your county or at the county elections office. You should only need to show ID if it’s your first time voting in California or if information on your registration was incomplete.
4. If you’re not registered, visit your county elections office or a designated satellite location by 8 p.m. Tuesday to vote conditionally. Your ballot will be processed once elections officials have verified your registration. Contact your local elections office for more details.
