Honor is all set to launch a new budget handset in China today. Going by the name Honor 10 Lite aka Honor 10 Youth Edition, the handset is a toned down variant of the Honor 10. The launch event is set to start at 3 PM (CST). In addition to this, the Huawei sub-brand is also expected to launch the Supreme Edition of the device, which should not be confused with a better version. It is simply the result of the smartphone maker collaborating with a New York-based Skateboard and Clothing brand, Supreme. However, the company does not mention anything about the special edition in it’s official Weibo post.
The Huawei sub-brand has setup a dedicated streaming for the launch of the Honor 10 Youth Edition. The event starts at 3 PM today in Bejing, according to the China Standard Time. The company has not posted the link for the live streaming yet but we will keep you updated.
Interestingly, the smartphone is already available for pre-orders. If you don’t want to wait until the device goes on sale officially, you can go JD.com or Vmall.com and book one for yourself. However, the websites do not mention the pricing details of the device, but you can still book it for a minimal amount. We are expecting the handset to sell for less than 2,000 Yuan. Like we mentioned earlier, the company could also launch the Supreme Edition of the handset the same day. And, we don’t know about the pricing of either of the devices but the special edition is expected to be priced higher than the standard variant. We will find out the actual pricing shortly.
The device has made an appearance on the TEENA listing earlier and hence, we are aware of its key specifications. Read on to find out what we know about the device so far.
The Honor 10 Lite aka Honor 10 Youth Edition is a feature-rich handset that takes on the likes of Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo in the budget segment. The smartphone features a tall 6.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. As revealed by the TENAA listing, the smartphone will be powered by an octa-core chipset, which would most likely be Hisilicon Kirin 710. As for handling the graphics, we are expecting Mali-G51 MP4 to make its way to the hardware. The device might get up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, which will be expandable.
On the software front, the smartphone will be running the latest Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 skin on top. Incidentally, Huawei contributes the maximum to the list of smartphones getting the Android 9 Pie experience.
In the imaging department, you will find a dual-camera setup at the rear, supposedly featuring the 13MP + 2MP combination. The back of the smartphone also features a fingerprint scanner. On the front, there will be a powerful 24MP camera for selfies and video calling needs. However, some renders suggest that the front of the device will also sport a dual-camera setup. The camera units on the device will be assisted by several AI-backed features. Running the whole system is a 3320mAh capacity battery, which is decent enough to last for a day on regular usage. The connectivity options that are expected to tag along with the Honor 10 Youth Edition include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Bluetooth 5.0 with LE, microUSB 2.0.
Stay tuned with us for updates on the smartphone.
