Youtuber Shirrako gets banned by Youtube after punching a feminist in Red Dead Redemption 2 which incited attention of the mainstream media
As most of you know by now, executing the feminist in Red Dead Redemption 2 has become somewhat of a trend in the community of the game.
Video games are always known to project people’s desires to do things in them that they couldn’t normally do in real life. Rockstar games do this perhaps the best with how controversial they can get at times. The case wasn’t any different with RDR 2, however. What was different is that Youtuber Shirrako was banned for punching said feminist in the jaw. This was because the video supposedly violated the Youtube guideline on promoting violence.
The controversy surrounding the video gained notoriety faster than Arthur’s wanted level after robbing a town blind. With mainstream media like Good morning Europe also covering the story. A statement from the Youtuber himself was also tweeted out accusing Youtube of banning him. Saying that punching a feminist is considered violence, but not shooting, robbing, vandalizing and threatening folk throughout the game. Shirrako included screenshot evidence of Youtube banning him.
The video itself simply depicted Shirrako walking up to the feminist in Red Dead Redemption 2. After briefly exchanging snide remarks, he proceeded to punch and knock her out. This incited a negative response from not only some of the gaming audience but mainstream media itself.
This isn’t the only time a feminist in Red Dead Redemption 2 was killed. However, it is a bit hypocritical for Youtube to ban someone for promoting violence for punching a feminist within a video game. Mainly because as Shirrako said, the game is violent throughout.
The story follows a gang of literal outlaws in the brutal time period of the Wild West. Youtube videos of gameplay exist which depict players shooting down lawmen and running over pedestrians with their horses. So why put the foot down on promoting violence when the subject was a feminist?
This story is another example depicting what Rockstar meant when they said GTA 6 may not release for a very long time.
For a company who’s games thrive on controversy, it’s difficult to maintain a product when the tolerance of the political culture is lower than the lowest honor level in RDR 2. If punching a feminist in Red Dead Redemption 2 is intolerable, what else could be slowly restricted over time?
