Samsung debuted its first Android Go smartphone, the Galaxy J2 Core back in August, but the device has yet to be introduced in the United States. Today, the South Korean handset maker silently unveiled its second Android Go phone – the Galaxy J4 Core, a slightly better-specced version of the Galaxy J2 Core. Although the hardware is nothing to write home about, Android Go changes things a bit since the piece of software was specifically designed for entry-level phones like the Galaxy J2 Core and Galaxy J4 Core. Since Android Oreo and Android Pie require a better hardware to run smoothly, Google engineered Android Go for budget-friendly phones and even left out some of the apps that usually come pre-installed on every Android smartphone. Samsung Galaxy J4 Core comes with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) on board and sports a large 6-inch HD (720p) display. The rest of the phone’s specs include a 1.4GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage (up to 512GB). Camera-wise, the Galaxy J4 Core doesn’t stand out, but won’t disappoint either since it packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a secondary 5-megapixel selfie snapper. A 3,300 mAh battery is included as well. Samsung hasn’t yet announced when exactly the Galaxy J4 Core will be available for purchase, nor how much it will cost, but we’ll update the post once that happens.
