The new OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition has been launched by OnePlus in collaboration with McLaren and it comes with a couple of new features.
Where does the OnePlus go from the OnePlus 6T? That phone, launched in India on October 30, is a phenomenal phone. And it is particular phenomenal because it has a starting price of just Rs 37,999. The answer to this question about what is next for OnePlus will be answered next year, when the OnePlus 7 arrives. But before that, today we have a new OnePlus 6T. Unlike the OnePlus 6T Purple Thunder, which is just OnePlus 6T in a new colour, the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition brings with it something extra. It’s not much, and it will cost you extra over what OnePlus charges for the regular variant, but for some people it might be worth it.
For me, to be honest, it’s not. If I am buying, I will get the OnePlus 6T vanilla version, preferably in the midnight black variant. If I am looking for something flashy, something with a bit of more colour, more oomph, I will get the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple. So where does the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition fits in. This I will get if I want a «special» OnePlus 6T and don’t mind the orange accents, which I don’t because they are subtly done.
It’s just that with a higher price — expected to be between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000 — the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition is meant for those who don’t mind paying a premium for a bit of stylish, a dash of colour, a big and buzzy brand like McLaren. The regular OnePlus 6T is still most sensible choice.
But enough of should you get the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition or not? Let’s talk about the phone itself.
As I noted earlier, I do like this phone. But not everyone will. I also heard some that it is not striking enough, or bold enough. They say that Red would have been a better accent colour. I don’t find anything wrong with the orange, particularly when you see that this is the signature colour of McLaren that has lent its name to the OnePlus for this phone.
