LOS ANGELES – Musician Harry Connick Jr. has a new gig. He’s giving online piano lessons for Playground Sessions, a subscription app co-founded by legendary producer Quincy Jones.
The app, which costs $9.99 monthly, uses gamification techniques to entice folks into learning instruments. For instance, on the classic New Orleans standard «When the Saints Go Marching In,» Connick assigns numbers to each musical note and encourages viewers to get through the song that way. Along the way, they get bonuses for making it through.
Playground says the lessons play like a game.
