The new Fortnite update is the Season 8 patch, which means a huge number of changes and improvements have been added to the game! These include the Season 8 Battle Pass, the Pirate Cannon weapon, and new named places. As with all significant updates, this patch requires downtime, which is expected to last two hours. Highlights of the Fortnite 8.00 update patch notes (Fortnite 2.05 on PS4) include the new Season 8 Battle Pass, the Pirate Cannon weapon, and various new locations on the map.
The Season 8 Battle Pass introduces 100 new levels, with over 100 new rewards. It is available right now for 950 V-Bucks, or for free if you managed to complete the Overtime challenges. Upon unlocking the Season 8 Battle Pass, users will instantly receive two progressive outfits, which evolve to look different as more XP is earned. These are Blackheart (a pirate) and Hybrid (a ninja lizard). Those choosing to go all-in with the Battle Bundle will also receive the Sidewinder skin. New wraps, pets, emotes, and more await Battle Pass owners.
The new Fortnite Pirate Cannon is able to deal damage to enemies and their structures with a devastating cannonball. However, the cannons can also be used to traverse the map more quickly, with players able to launch themselves into the air!
The new locations introduced at the start of Season 8 and the brand new volcano are Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon.
