Bungie’s idea of bringing character transfer to Destiny 2 was turned down by Sony according to a recent report by Jason Schreier.
Bungie once wanted to enable the cross-platform transfer of Destiny 2 characters but the idea was solely killed by Sony. This information was delivered by Jason Schreier during this week’s Kotaku Splitscreen podcast.
You can witness Schreier say it here (at 57 minutes). While discussing Bungie’s separation from Activision, Schreier revealed that the developer wanted to make character transfer a reality but Sony rejected the idea due to the exclusivity deal. This happened before the release of Forsaken expansion last year.
Here’s what he said:
That’s some unluck for Destiny series fans as it would have allowed PS4 players to play with same characters on the PC version of the game or vice versa.
