Senate fails to overturn Trump's Iran war powers veto

Thursday’s override vote fell along similar lines as only a handful of Republicans have been willing to challenge the president on Iran.
The Senate on Thursday failed in its attempt to rein in President Donald Trump’s ability to wage war with Iran, after lawmakers came up short in a vote to override his veto of war powers legislation.
The vote failed 49-44, below the two-thirds majority needed to overcome a presidential veto.
which calls for the end to military hostilities against Iran unless authorized by Congress — passed the Senate in February with eight Republicans breaking ranks to support the measure. The resolution is the first Iran-related measure to reach Trump’s desk after numerous attempts to restrict his war-making authority.
