Senator Rubio ‘Proud’ He’s Sanctioned By The Chinese Government

Rubio says the State Department should issue a travel warning to Hong Kong.
Florida Senator Marco Rubio has something to be proud of: Chinese sanctions on him for being one of a team of U. S. politicians behind the recent sanctioning of Chinese nationals for human rights violations.
Anyone who knows Rubio knew he would wear this one like a badge of honor.
“I had no intention of traveling to China soon anyway,” he said today on Fox News’ American Newsroom. “I didn’t think they were going to roll out the welcome mat. I’m actually proud of it. Anytime a totalitarian, evil regime is against you, you know you’re on the right side.”
The recent U. S. sanctions are based on the Magnitsky Act, a law that first targeted Russians involved in the death of Sergei Magnitsky, then an accountant working with hedge fund manager Bill Browder at Hermitage Capital, who was under investigation for financial fraud at the time.
The sanctions target individuals and bans them from taking money out of U. S. banks internationally and from traveling to the U. S. and its territories.
The China sanctions are all based on the jailing over what some have estimated to be around one million Uighur Muslims — an ethnic and religious minority in far eastern China.
