Data requested by the DOJ will help it decide whether to open an investigation under the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.
The U. S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday it was requesting data from the governors of four Democrat-led states to see whether orders issued during the height of the coronavirus pandemic resulted in the deaths of thousands nursing homes residents. The question of how so many people in nursing homes became infected and died from the coronavirus has been hotly contested, especially in New York.
