Thanks to Netflix’s brand new Top 10 feature, we’ve been able to track not only what movies are dominating the world’s most popular streaming platform from day to day, but from month to month as well. Thanks to our new points system, we can numerically rank which movies are commanding Netflix the most with each passing month. And this month has been especially exciting, as various movies have claimed the #1 position on the Monthly Top 10—including a brand new one this past week. Which movie was that? Let’s cycle through the ten most popular movies of the month to find out. Well, this shouldn’t be too surprising: Despicable Me is by far Netflix’s most popular movie this year. And if the animated juggernaut can keep this August performance up, then it will mark the third month where Despicable Me ranked as one of the ten movies on the Monthly Top 10. So far in August, the movie has appeared on daily list 18 times. What a fall from grace it was for The Kissing Booth 2. On the first day of this month, the Netflix Original became just the third movie to spend nine consecutive days at #1 on the Top 10. But just six days later, The Kissing Booth 2 had fallen to the #9 position.
