House Democrats are hopeful they can get Republican votes for impeachment based on conversations they have had with GOP lawmakers.
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) is the latest Republican in Congress to signal support for Trump’s removal, stating Saturday the president has committed acts that are “impeachable” as Democrats are set to introduce articles of impeachment in the House. Trump has come under fire for telling supporters to march to the Capitol and “fight like hell” shortly before they stormed the building as lawmakers tried to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
