The move would open the door for the return of many classic uniforms that have been absent from NFL uniform rotations the last several years.
The NFL is discarding its one-helmet rule that has been in place for almost a decade. The league sent a memo to teams on Thursday stating that it will allow each team to have one alternate color helmet starting in 2022. The alternate color helmets must use logos from some point in the team’s history, but the colors of the helmet can be different as long as they fit within the club’s existing logo guidelines.
