Foothill scored 21 goals in its dominant win over Newbury Park to capture the first-ever CIF-SS Division 1 championship, but one goal stood out. Early in the game, junior Elena Torres scored her second goal during the onslaught and the crowd gave her a standing ovation as it was announced that it was her 100th career goal. Torres’ ability to generate scoring for her team makes her the Register’s girls lacrosse player of the year.
