The mayor doesn’t want her hometown hockey team to lose the series, just perhaps the game on Monday night in Montreal.
Tampa can continue holding the crown of ‘Titletown’ if the Tampa Bay Lightning win just one more game in this year’s Stanley Cup Finals. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor just hopes that win doesn’t come at Game 4 Monday night in Montreal. She prefers a Game 5 win in Florida. The Lightning are up 3 games to none in the best-of-7 series. Castor spoke at a news conference Sunday when she said she hoped the Lightning give the Montreal Canadiens «just the smallest break» Monday to perhaps allow the hometown fans witness a Cup-clinching win. «Here’s what we would like. What we would like is for the Lightning to take it a little bit easy to give the Canadiens just the smallest break, allow them to win one at home, and then bring it back to the Amalie Arena for the final and the winning of the Stanley Cup,» Castor said. Should the Canadiens win Game 4 on Monday, then Game 5 would be Wednesday night at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
