Fossil’s new smartwatch is available for pre-order today, starting at $299, but it won’t get the Wear OS 3 update until next year.
The newest smartwatch from Fossil promises to run longer and faster than ever before, but it’ll do so without the latest iteration of Google’s Wear OS. On Monday, Fossil introduced its Gen 6 touch-screen smartwatches, an upgrade from 2019’s Gen 5 Model. The biggest change is the silicon inside: The Gen 6 runs Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, a quad-core CPU with a 1.7GHz clock speed. As a result, the watch can load apps about 30% faster than Gen 5 while using less battery life. Expect the device to run for over 24 hours on a single charge or over multiple days when switched into extended battery mode.
