A former Massachusetts mayor was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison for corruption. Jasiel Correia,29, was convicted of forcing marijuana businesses into a pay-for-play scheme in the city of Fall River after he was elected mayor in 2016. Anyone who wanted a marijuana business license in Massachusetts needed a sign-off from local elected leaders. Correia, supposedly a rising Democratic star when he was elected at age 23, forced business owners to pay for his approval so he could line his own pockets.
