The company expected to launch an eSIM-only iPhone
Reports that made the headlines earlier this week indicated that Apple was working on a new iPhone without physical SIM, and now a tipster with a good track on Apple scoops claims the company is already testing such a device internally. In theory, an iPhone without a physical SIM would rely exclusively on eSIM, and @dylandkt confirms this is the case, pointing to a tweet posted several months ago and revealing a prototype was already being tested behind the closed doors at Apple. More specifically, the Cupertino-based iPhone maker is already trying to figure out how such an iPhone would work, though on the other hand, this doesn’t mean the launch would take place this year.
