A million more PS4 consoles are being manufactured this year, but that could increase based on demand.
Sony has informed its manufacturing partners that production of the PS4 console will continue throughout 2022. As Bloomberg reports, Sony never officially stated when PS4 production would end, but «people familiar with the matter» said the end of 2021 was Sony’s previous cutoff date. However, the pandemic coupled with huge demand for the PS5 has seemingly changed Sony’s mind.
