Only four solo musicians have hit No. 2 on Billboard’s social chart.
Last week, Jung Kook’s new single “Stay Alive” debuted on Billboard ’s Hot Trending Songs chart, which ranks the tunes that rack up the most mentions on Twitter all around the world. The BTS member and solo star’s arrival was a bit surprising, as the tune ranked as one of the 20 most-talked-about tunes in the world, despite the fact that it hadn’t even been made widely available for fans to stream or buy. Now, the cut rockets up the list, and in doing so, it becomes one of the biggest hits ever. In its second turn on the Hot Trending Songs chart, “Stay Alive” bolts from No.16 to No.2, narrowly missing out on becoming just the fourth-ever leader on the social-focused tally (it loses to BTS’s “Butter,” so Jung Kook does actually manage to claim the highest two spaces).
