You shouldn’t be able to hear the sneakers squeak on the court from the upper deck when the Wolfpack and Tar Heels get together. You could on Saturday. If Ted Lasso is right and it is the hope that kills you then what does the apathy towards Carolina’s 84-74 win over NC State do to you? The loudest ovation from the home fans came during the under-12 timeout in the first half when players from NC State’s football team were honored. That UNC jumped out 20-3 before anyone in red could summon the necessary delusions of grandeur to hope against hope (for old time’s sake) certainly didn’t help. It would be easy to chalk up Saturday’s loss as another bad day in a bad season (4-14 in the ACC now).
