The free, ad-supported video-streaming service is getting a new name to help it stand out from the standard IMDb TV and film catalog.
It’s easy for a video-streaming service to get lost in the shuffle. So Amazon has decided to rebrand IMDb TV —the company’s free, ad-supported streaming service—as Amazon Freevee, effective April 27. “Our new name clearly communicates who we are: An easy-to-navigate streaming service, available to users for free, whenever and wherever they choose to watch some of the greatest original and licensed content available,” said Amazon’s director of Freeveee, Ashraf Alkarmi. The old name didn’t exactly stand out, especially since the main IMDB.com property is best known as a website that catalogs films and TV series.
