Elon Musk has reportedly directed employees to make the coveted verification badge a paid feature under the Twitter Blue subscription.
Elon Musk is just settling into his role as the owner and top boss of Twitter, and it looks like his first move as the self-proclaimed “Chief Twit” is to start charging verified users for that coveted blue tick.
According to Platformer and The Verge, Musk has issued a directive to make the Twitter Blue subscription service more premium. What currently costs $4.99 a month for some additional features will jump to $19.99 to include the verified badge.
Employees told to implement the change or risk getting fired.
Under the current plan, verified users would be given 90 days to subscribe to the costlier Twitter Blue or lose their blue tick.
