The two base models of the two top phone manufacturers face against each other. Who will take the win?
Apple should announce its new iPhone 15 sometime this September, which means we are not that far from it. One of its main competitors will be none other than Samsung’s own base flagship model — the Galaxy S23.Based on what we know so far, thanks to leaks and rumors that have been circling in the mobile tech space, we have a pretty good mental picture of what the iPhone 15 would entail, so the only logical thing to do is start pitting these popular phones against each other.Of course, we are talking about two very distinct systems here (iOS vs Android/One UI), so there would always be the matter of personal preference. Nevertheless, there are some notable differences, like an extra camera and faster screen refresh rate on the S23 or possibly a better main camera on the iPhone 15.Here is a closer look at what sets the two apart, and where the lines get blurred with similar specs and capabilities.
Both the upcoming iPhone 15 and the already out Galaxy S23 are the two most mainstream flagship handsets on the market and their design has a big role to play in that. Both phones have a look to them that is understated, clean, and easily likable. Yes, you can call them boring, but boring also means that there is less likelihood for a buyer to be turned off by the design.Size-wise, given that the iPhone 15 is expected to be somewhere near that of the iPhone 14, we can safely speculate it would be in the same weight class as Samsung’s Galaxy S23. Apple tends to make its phones a little heavier, though, and the new base iPhone should be no different. As a side note, there have been several leaks about the new iPhone 15 Pro models being lighter thanks to new materials, but the base iPhone 15 is not rumored to receive the same treatment. The displays on both phones are flat, with the iPhone 15 expected to continue the boxy look Apple has been implementing since the iPhone 12. The Galaxy S23, on the other hand, has edges that are slightly more rounded making it more comfortable to hold. One major difference — if the rumors prove to be true — will be the iPhone 15’s adoption of the Dynamic Island, which comes with a variety of software functionality. The Galaxy S23, however, can boast a less intrusive punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, which can be less distracting when viewing content on the phone.Moving away from notches and islands, let’s talk about the more important aspects of a phone’s display.
