The longtime Manhattan apartment of John Mayer is up for rent asking $17,500 per month, The Post has learned.
Mayer, 45, lived in this Soho apartment at 225 Lafayette St. from 2006 to 2013.
Beyond this former home, the Grammy-winning musician is also known for being friends with Bravo honcho Andy Cohen for 25 years — but it was while Mayer lived in this apartment that the two solidified their relationship, sources revealed.
“This was the time that John and Andy started hanging out a lot,” an insider said. “They both lived really close to each other, still do today, and their friendship just kind of blossomed from there.”
Cohen had moved into 2 Horatio St. at the time, where he still resides, in addition to a West Village penthouse unit he purchased last year for $18.3 million.
Mayer, meanwhile, purchased this corner two-bedroom, three-bathroom unit for $2.17 million, later selling it for $3.19 million, records show.
Cohen, regarding Mayer, admitted to being completely “star-struck for the first five years.”
“I’m still titillated by our friendship, but I’ve gotten over the excitement of the newness of it,” Cohen told Howard Stern on Wednesday. “At some point 20 years into a friendship you digest that it’s there.”
He also triggered major chatter following the episode of Stern’s SiriusXM show, saying that he was “in love” with the “Gravity” singer.
