Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.) is one of the largest contract electronics manufacturers in the world, headquartered in Taiwan.
It owns over 50,000 patents with annual revenue surpassing $200 billion in 2022. It is one of the company’s factories in Mexico, manufacturing medical devices and consumer electronics.
It operates from 2 sites, with 150 physical servers and 400 VMs. The VMs store databases, file servers, web application services, SQL and Oracle databases. Downtime and data loss can impact the manufacturing processes detrimentally; thus, backup and recovery services should be in place to support 24/7 operations.
Foxconn BC protected its environment by using another VM backup solution. However, licensing and annual maintenance costs proved to be a burden for the company.
