Apple announced its latest iOS 17 update to the general public at its WWDC 2023 event in June. The update will be available on all compatible iPhone models later this month alongside watchOS 10 and additional updates. Last year, Apple delayed the release of iPadOS 16 by more than a month. While iOS 16 was released at its set date, Apple saw fit to delay iPadOS 16 because it was not ready and needed final fixes for bugs and issues.
