Actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher apologized on Saturday for a series of letters they wrote to a judge asking for leniency for their former That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson, who was sentenced this week to 30 years to life in prison after he was convicted of raping multiple women in the Church of Scientology two decades ago.Key Facts
Kutcher and Kunis said in a joint video posted on Instagram that they were approached by Masterson’s family to write the letters in support of their former co-star, with Kunis saying the letters were not intended to “question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity of the jury’s ruling.”
Kutcher said in the video the letters, which were obtained by multiple outlets on Friday, were also not meant to “undermine the testimony of the victims or re-traumatize them in any way.
