In Iran, journalists and rights groups said, the father of the Kurdish-Iranian woman who died in police custody was himself taken into custody, CNN reports, as government security forces moved against protests in Kurdish areas. The events included remembrances of the 22-year-old woman who was accused by police of not wearing her hijab properly. Developments include:

International support: «Women! Life! Freedom!» was chanted by crowds in central London, per the AP. «We’re calling on everyone to remember those killed, but also continue the fight, because this fight has to go to the end,» said Maryam Namazie, an Iranian human rights activist.
