The maker of an extremely spicy tortilla chip popularised as a dare on social media is pulling the product after the family of a Massachusetts teenager blamed the chip for his death.
The company behind the âOne Chip Challengeâ is removing its extremely spicy products from store shelves following a teenagerâs death.
âThe Paqui One Chip Challenge is intended for adults only, with clear and prominent labelling highlighting the chip is not for children,â Paqui wrote in a statement.
âWe have seen an increase in teens and other individuals not heeding these warnings,â they added. âAs a result, while the product continues to adhere to food safety standards, out of an abundance of caution, we are actively working with our retailers to remove the product from shelves.
