Los Angeles’ Academy Museum is holding a one-day retrospective on Shinkai’s tenure as a filmmaker, from Voices of a Distant Star to Suzume.
Since 1998, Makoto Shinkai has grown to become one of Japan’s most celebrated creators in the animation space thanks to works like Weathering With You, Your Name, and 2022’s Suzume (which released earlier this year for international audiences). After last week’s news that Suzume would be returning to theaters for a limited time, Crunchyroll’s announced a museum installation dedicated to his films.
The one-day installation will appear at Los Angeles’ Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Sunday, November 19.
