This year’s Game Awards brought trailers for Blade, Jurassic Park: Survival, a follow-up to No Man’s Sky, and a whole lot more. These are the games we most look forward to playing.
At this year’s Game Awards, Baldur’s Gate 3 took home the top prize (Game of the Year), The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom received recognition (Best Action-Adventure Game), and there was a glorious Alan Wake 2 musical performance. But let’s be real. Although Geoff Keighley claims this is an awards show (and a way to highlight cool people in the industry), The Game Awards is a mostly unbroken string of commercials for upcoming games.
Between industry layoffs, international crises, and folks not having enough time for acceptance speeches, the vibes were off at this year’s event. However, the announcements were still reasons to get excited. Acclaimed indie creators behind hits like Dead Cells, Thumper, Untitled Goose Game, and World of Goo are working on new projects. Hollywood celebs like Simu Liu and Matthew McConaughey are slated to appear in games. Live services, including Fortnite and Warframe, continue to pump out new modes and seasonal events.
