Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny’s funeral will take place on Friday in Moscow, his team said Wednesday, following difficulties finding a location willing to host a farewell ceremony for the Kremlin’s most prominent critic who died in a remote Arctic penal colony earlier this month.Key Facts
Navalny’s spokesperson Kira Yarmysh said a service for the late politician will be held at the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God, an Orthodox church in Moscow’s Maryino district.
Yarmysh said the ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. local time.
She advised supporters and people wishing to pay their respects to arrive early.
