Taiwanese manufacturer SYM has a concept for a hybrid scooter, the PE 3, that might solve “range anxiety” for electric two-wheelers. Unlike typical hybrids, the PE 3’s main power comes from an electric motor. But here’s the twist: a tiny gasoline engine kicks in only when the battery dips below 60 volts.
