An advocacy group founded by former vice president Mike Pence has warned Donald Trump against giving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. a potential new administration job because of his «looney» left-wing views.
The Advancing American Freedom (AAF) think tank said that any job offered to Kennedy if Trump returns to the White House would be an «unmitigated disaster for the country», while pointing to his leftist beliefs, as well as his history of being an anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist.
Kennedy originally launched his 2024 presidential bid as a Democrat before switching to run as an independent candidate. He largely suspended his campaign on August 23 by removing his name from ballots in key swing states, endorsing Trump in the race.
Trump later announced that Kennedy, along with former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, will serve on the Republican’s transition team.
A super PAC supporting Kennedy told Reuters that the endorsement for Trump was done in exchange for a job in a potential Trump administration. In a recent interview with CNN, Trump said «certainly I’d be open» to offering Kennedy a role in his administration if he endorsed the former president’s 2024 campaign.
