Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter is looking for a No. 1 debut for her breakout album “Short n’ Sweet” on the Billboard charts—but she faces stiff competition from rapper Travis Scott, as both artists released additional digital versions of their albums in a back-and-forth battle that heated up just hours before the sales tracking week ended.Key Facts

Carpenter released her sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet” on Aug. 23, the same day Scott released the tenth anniversary edition of his 2014 mixtape, “Days Before Rodeo.”

On Tuesday, music industry publication Hits Daily Double reported Carpenter was headed for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 317,000 album units (composed of streams and sales), about 100,000 units ahead of Scott—though it noted Scott could still surprise for a No. 1 debut.

The next day, Carpenter released a new digital version of “Short n’ Sweet” featuring a new bonus track, followed up with another digital album featuring a different bonus track on Thursday.

Just two hours before the sales tracking week ended Thursday night, Carpenter released another digital version of her album featuring a demo version of her song “Taste.”

Scott also raced to release additional variants of his album on Thursday, dropping four different versions with each containing different bonus tracks, as well as a live version and a “chopped and screwed” version—with the last edition released about 30 minutes before the tracking week ended.
