You’re charging it wrong! Samsung says unofficial chargers are peeling paint off Galaxy Z Fold 6
Samsung’s newest foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, is facing an unexpected issue: the paint is chipping off for some users. This is particularly frustrating given the phone’s premium price tag of $1,900. Reports of this issue have surfaced on online forums like Reddit, with users sharing photos of their once-pristine devices now marred by paint chips.
Instead of acknowledging a potential manufacturing defect, Samsung is placing the blame on third-party chargers and accessories. The company has issued a statement on its support page, explaining that using a high-speed third-party charger that isn’t properly grounded can cause the paint on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 to peel. They attribute this to something called «leakage current» that occurs when the phone is being charged and held at the same time.
Interestingly, Samsung also mentions that using an EMS massager powered by the phone can lead to the same issue.
