Storm surge warnings were issued on Friday in parts of Southern Luzon, Central Luzon, Bicol region and Eastern Visayas due to Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi).
In its 2:00 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said there is a moderate to high risk of flooding due to rising seawater and high waves in low-lying coastal communities in the said regions.
Pepito intensified into a typhoon on Friday morning, moving westward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gustiness of up to 160 kph.
