Duke earned a No. 2 seed and a host site in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament after winning the ACC Tournament. They hosted No. 15 seed Lehigh of the Patriot league at Cameron Indoor Stadium Friday night.
Duke opened with its signature swarming defense. A steal and layup by Reigan Richardson followed by a shot clock violation from Lehigh was a sign that it was probably going to be a long night for Lehigh.
But at the 4:34 mark in the first quarter with Duke up 8-3, Kara Lawson called a time out and looked to have some strong words for her team after allowing a three point Lehigh basket and turning the ball over on offense.
Lehigh’s strong defense forced Duke into some three point shots that they’d probably like back.
