‘SNL’ Weekend Update took a dig at Morgan Wallen after his abrupt exit last week, skipping goodbyes with the show’s cast members.
country music star Morgan Wallen made a swift and unexpected departure from the Saturday Night Live stage as the credits rolled.
He had performed as the musical guest alongside Oscar-winning actress Mikey Madison, but didn’t stick around for the farewell moments. Not long after leaving, Wallen shared an image of a plane with the caption, “Get me to God’s country,” which quickly turned into a viral meme.
In this week’s SNL episode, hosted by Jack Black of A Minecraft Movie fame, Wallen’s sudden exit was brought up twice.
During the cold open, James Austin Johnson referenced the “God’s country” quote. Later, during Weekend Update, the show made a humorous nod to Wallen in a joke about recent tariffs.
“Just in the past two days, investors have lost over six trillion dollars,” Colin Jost remarked. “Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnight.
