Democratic Michigan State Sen. Mallory McMorrow announced Wednesday that she is running for Michigan’s open Senate seat in 2026.
McMorrow stated in an announcement video that Michigan needs new leaders, adding that the “same old crap out of Washington” would not fix the country’s current “fear and danger.”
“We need new leaders,” McMorrow said in her announcement video. “Because the same people in D.C. who got us into this mess are not going to be the ones to get us out of it … I’m running for U.S. Senate because we don’t have a minute to wait.”
The state senator previously called for Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to step down from his position after the party leader faced massive intraparty backlash over his decision to vote to advance a GOP spending bill backed by President Donald Trump.
