An F1 insider has pointed to a team currently seeking a new principal as a potential landing spot for Christian Horner.
Former Formula One driver and Sky Sports F1 presenter Karun Chandhok has revealed that the Alpine F1 team could be Christian Horner’s next destination following his sudden Red Bull exit.
Red Bull Racing announced on Wednesday that it was parting ways with Horner with immediate effect, replacing him with Racing Bulls team principal Laurent Mekies. The reason for Horner’s exit is not known yet. Horner served Red Bull for 20 years, a period during which the team won six Constructors’ Championships and eight Drivers’ Championships.
Chandhok believes Horner could take some time off after serving a high-pressure role for 20 years. Eventually, he may consider Alpine as an option, especially given that the team is searching for a suitable team principal after the departure of Oliver Oakes. At present, executive advisor Flavio Briatore is serving as the team’s interim team boss.
