Gemini’s Gems, custom chatbots that help you avoid repetitive prompting, are now available in the side panel of Workspace apps.
Google is making it easier to get specific Gemini tasks done on Workspace apps. It is making Gems available directly in the side panel of Google Docs, Drive, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides.
Gems have been available on the Gemini app and website since last year. They are custom versions of Gemini that you can create to act as experts on specific tasks. You can give it instructions, a name, and then use it whenever you want, without needing to type the same prompt over and over again.
For example, if you need to create a writing editor, you can add notes for the tone, language expertise, and purpose in the instructions and even add files that your Gem can use as reference.
