Tommy Fleetwood won his first PGA Tour tournament, taking the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup at East Lake Golf Club.
Tommy Fleetwood finally got the job done and won his first PGA Tour event. Many would argue it was worth the wait, as with the Tour Championship title, the Englishman also took home the FedEx Cup and its $10 million paycheck.
Fleetwood entered the round tied for first with Patrick Cantlay. However, while the American had some early slip-ups, the European managed to maintain a steady pace and even carded under par to take the title.
Fleetwood’s fourth-round performance included five birdies and three bogeys to finish at 18-under for the tournament.
«I’m proud of what I’ve done before», he told Golf Channel from the 18th green, seconds after securing his title. «You know, whether I’ve won or not, I’ve still been proud of my career and where I’ve been so far, knowing that I still have a long way to go and a lot to learn, and this doesn’t change that, really.
